Get a Head Start and Prepare Your Child for Primary School

preschools in singapore that provides quality education and holistic development

Most parents worry that a kindergarten curriculum may focus too heavily on worksheets and memorisation, or spend too much time on play, leaving children without the academic readiness and skills they need for the next stage.

Finding the right preschool to enroll in, then, becomes an important part of your child’s overall academic journey. After all, kindergarten is where many lifelong learning habits begin to form.

This is why Viv’s Schoolhouse approaches every aspect of our early childhood programme differently.

Through experiential learning, we give young children opportunities to ask questions, collaborate, and engage with concepts in memorable ways — all within a stimulating environment!

From daily gym lessons to out-of-school visits, we ensure that each experience helps strengthen practical life skills.

By combining practical learning, language development, and personalized guidance, Viv’s Schoolhouse carefully nurtures your child’s progress so they can confidently move on to the next stage of their education.

Why Parents Choose Viv's Schoolhouse

wonderful schools in Singapore with good preschool programmes for early learning

A Real Bilingual Start in English and Mandarin

Having a bilingual education can support cultural awareness, which is especially valuable in a diverse country such as Singapore.

That’s why students at Viv’s Schoolhouse learn in a fully bilingual kindergarten environment, guided by both an English teacher and a Mandarin teacher throughout the day.

Both languages are naturally woven into lessons, projects, and daily routines, helping kindergarten children develop strong language literacy and communication skills from a young age.

Alongside this, families who want deeper Mandarin development can opt for Higher Chinese exposure, giving children a stronger foundation before they move on to a local primary school or choose international schools.

One of the Smallest Teacher-to-Child Ratios with a Tight-Knit Community

We maintain one of the smallest teacher-to-child ratios in Singapore, with approximately 1 teacher to 10 kindergarteners.

Smaller class sizes allow our dedicated teachers interact with all the students equally, so each child can be understood and guided at their own pace.

They can also get to know each child’s personality, strengths, and learning style, supporting both academic readiness and emotional development in a safe and nurturing environment.

Because we’re a close-knit school community, children of all ages interact regularly. They learn to lead, empathise, and develop a genuine sense of belonging, supported by strong communication and weekly updates through our parent app!

Learning Experiences that Prepare Them for Primary 1

Our kindergarten programme moves beyond rote memorisation by combining structured learning with play-based and experiential activities that inspire curiosity and independence.

Children build foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, social skills, and practical life skills through meaningful experiences rather than just worksheets, making future school readiness feel natural.

This holistic education approach prepares children for local primary schools and international curriculum pathways, while keeping their kindergarten years joyful and memorable, giving them experiences they can look back on fondly as the beginning of their lifelong learning journey.

See What Your Child Experiences in Our Curriculum

Our preschool curriculum is designed to provide students aged 5 to 6 with a holistic education in a safe and supportive environment.

Kindergarten curricula vary from school to school. Although we don’t offer the IB programme ourselves, Viv’s Schoolhouse embraces children from all over the world, including internationally mobile families.

Confident Communicators

Our children strengthen language and communication skills through:

  • Full English–Mandarin immersion, where they might greet the class in Mandarin during morning assembly and read a short story in together in English later in the day.
  • Speech & Drama sessions, where they introduce themselves, deliver simple lines on stage or narrate a short story to classmates, building confidence in front of an audience.
  • Class discussions and show-and-tell activities that encourage children to share their thoughts, listen to peers, and use both languages in meaningful ways.

You’ll notice your child becoming more willing to speak up, express their opinions and communicate clearly at home, not just in school!

Curious Thinkers and Problem-Solvers

We encourage problem-solving and critical thinking skills through:

  • Inquiry-led projects, such as exploring how plants grow or investigating what happens when different materials are mixed together, which prompt children to ask “why” and “how”
  • Practical mathematics activities where children might plan a simple “café” in class, decide on prices and work out how much change to give a classmate, making numbers feel real and relevant.
  • Structured play that invites children to build, sort, compare, and experiment, helping develop cognitive foundations as part of your child’s learning journey
  • Unique monthly field trips that take children beyond the classroom to new places each time, expanding their understanding of the world through real-life experiences

These experiences help children connect what they learn in class with the world around them, rather than simplymemorising answers.

Healthy and Active Learners

Physical development and outdoor learning are woven into everyday kindergarten life through:

  • Regular movement or gym sessions where children practise balancing, jumping and coordinating their bodies as part of early childhood education

  • Weekly swimming lessons and water play that build confidence in the water, teach safety and support gross motor development

  • Outdoor learning opportunities, such as observing nature in nearby spaces or completing simple obstacle courses, to keep children active and engaged

This focus on physical development supports emotional regulation while nurturing each child’s growth, focus, and confidence during more structured parts of the day.

Creative and Independent Learners

We nurture creativity and independence through:

  • Art, craft, and music projects where children might paint a scene from a recent outdoor learning journey, create a simple collage, or perform a song together.

  • Collaborative programmes that ask children to plan and complete small projects in groups, allowing them to learn how to share responsibilities and respect different ideas.

  • Child-led learning moments, where they get to choose from activity stations, set small goals – like finishing a puzzle or reading a short book – and reflect on what they achieved.

Over time, your child becomes more independent in managing tasks, making decisions, and taking pride in their own work.

I believe it was a good decision to send my daughter to Viv's Schoolhouse. She has much better control of her emotions and learned many skills after joining Viv's Schoolhouse... Looking forward to more progress in the future! Thank you for the care and concern teachers!

Our daughter attended Viv's and she had a blast. The school's curriculum is very holistic and it is one of the reasons we were drawn to it. They are one of the few pre schools that have their own dedicated curriculum specialist. Teachers here are warm and lovely, we felt at ease as parents with the constant updates and the way our daughter interacted with the teachers. There are too many things to highlight but the monthly excursions, Japanese classes, and swimming classes are something you can look forward to that are not that found in other schools. Thank you for being a great institution for our family!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We are truly grateful to Viv School House for preparing our child, Tiffany so well for Primary 1. The teachers are caring, patient, and very dedicated, and the curriculum is thoughtfully planned to build confidence and strong foundations. What really impressed us is how aligned their teaching is with primary school expectations. We were happy to learn that P1 will include Show & Tell for English lesson and Pinyin for Mandarin lesson. Viv has already been exposing the children to these concepts, making the transition much smoother and less stressful. My child has grown not only academically but also in confidence and communication skills. Thank you Viv School House for creating such a supportive and nurturing environment. Highly recommended to parents looking for a preschool that truly prepares children for the next stage of learning! 💕

My child has been with this school for nearly two years. I like that the school provides regular updates and organizes meaningful activities, not just academic lessons. They have monthly field trips and even visits to old folks’ homes. The extra-curricular programs also fit my needs well — swimming, robotics, and Japanese classes — so I don’t have to send my child to other classes on weekends.

Good ratio of children to teachers. Teachers are patient and are willing to work with parents to guide the children academically and emotionally.

Our daughter was previously at one of the leading premium preschools, but we felt their entire approach was commercially driven and lacked genuine care for the children. When we were looking for a new school, while the program was important, what truly mattered was the quality of the teachers and management. After meeting with the school owner and visiting the facility, I was quickly convinced that my child would be in good hands and decided to transfer her, despite a much longer commute. I have been proven right. We have no issues with drop-offs; she genuinely enjoys going to school, loves her teachers and friends, and looks forward to the monthly school excursions and special event celebrations. The school also provides optional curriculum classes such as swimming and sports. We've signed her up for these, as they are perfect for working parents like us, saving us time sending her to external classes. Additionally, the teachers and principal are always reachable and responsive whenever we have queries. At the end of each term, we have a Parent-Teacher Meeting where we are updated on our child's progress and learning. We are so grateful to them for taking the time, on top of their usual workload, to maintain close communication with us at all times, all in the interest of our child's development Choosing this preschool has been one of the best decisions we've made for our daughter's early education, and we highly recommend it

Highly recommended for parents who are looking for an all rounded preschool for their kids . Viv’s schoolhouse exceeded all aspects of our expectations for a preschool. We joined Viv’s early March this year . We have to change our girl’s school who is in N2 this year as we moved quite a distance away (30mins drive) . Initially we enrolled her into another school in Potong Pasir through a friend’s recommendation. But she refused school and was literally crying for the whole month . After trying for a whole month , we actually gave up and withdrew her as we find the school not a good fit for her . I found Viv’s through some recommendations from Facebook and I actually texted some of the parents whose child/children are in the school to get the most genuine reviews . With many positive reviews , we went for the school tour . We are surprised that this school actually offered us a 3days no obligation free trial . That shows how confident they are with the kids . I shared with them my concerns and the difficulties we are facing at that moment. (My girl actually developed some phobia for school after one month of crying there) A pleasant surprise: She walked into the school happily on her 3rd day ( still during the trial period ) . Haha .. I guess this is what many parents hoped for . No crying , no whining , no drama ! So, we enrolled her in without second thoughts . Bonus : This school is actually pretty advance in terms of academic. We are pretty surprised that she learned addition and subtraction in just two months time . Overall we are very pleased with the school and teachers (eps Teacher Joanne). My girl love her so much ! Thank you for all the support and patience towards Carys . Appreciate it !

My child had such a wonderful time at Viv’s Schoolhouse! The teachers were so caring and it was evident in the way they interacted with him. We were only there for a short time, but my child learned so much. He’s grown to be more independent and is not as hesitant to approach and play with other children. It was such a joy to watch him blossom. There was also an excellent range of activities; ensuring the kids are engaged and interested every day. Another bonus is my normally picky eater loved everything they served! I highly recommend Viv’s Schoolhouse and wish we were able to spend more time there. 💙 We are missing everyone already!!

Make Your Child’s Kindergarten Years a Natural Launchpad at Viv’s Schoolhouse

Children in Singapore typically start primary school at age 7 and kindergarten programs typically run for 3 to 4 hours daily.

By kindergarten, the question on most parents’ minds shifts from “will my child be okay at school” to “will my child be ready for what’s next”. It’s natural to wonder whether your child will be prepared once formal schooling begins.

At Viv’s Schoolhouse, we want you to see a kindergarten where your son or daughter builds real readiness every day, rather than cramming for it at the last minute.

Here’s what your child gains when they join us:

  • Real bilingual growth in English and Mandarin, built through daily immersion with dedicated language teachers.

  • A genuine love for learning, nurtured through hands-on activities, learning journeys, and creative projects.

  • Strong academic foundations in literacy and numeracy that make school readiness feel natural, not rushed.

  • Important social and emotional skills, from making friends and working in groups to expressing themselves clearly.

  • Practical life skills and confidence, so they can step into Primary 1 and beyond as independent, capable young learners.

Every term that passes brings your child closer to Primary 1, so the earlier they settle into the right environment, the more time they have to grow into it.

Visit us to see how your child is being prepared and give them a strong start to their next stage of education.
